How did you ever come up with mimmler, Ratched?

I mean, Poland was seething with counter-establishment humour in communist times, and I have to say I haven’t yet heard a better anti-Bolshevik joke than mimmler yet, though it has to be said O’Cone and Pointy run him a close second.

That's his job, his career; what he's paid to do.

Oh! You were talking about pickled. Scrub the "paid to do" bit then.

Re: Jimmy Carr
So much for free speech then.

Jimmy Carr has made a career of "near the knuckle" bad taste humour.

You should know this before you watch one of shows.

There's loads of comedians I don't like, I simply don't watch them.

Move on or the comment about telling your grand kids about the existence of comedians will be accurate.

Attention seeker, his whole career has been like it. Not someone I’d deliberately switch on the tv to watch.

I’ve been in comedy clubs where the whole night has descended into a brawl because everyone was offending everyone else and taking offence and deciding a fight is better. Fucking entertaining if a bit edgy.

“Offence is relative and subjective. I'm sure there's stuff that would offend me that wouldn't offend you, and plenty more vise-versa.”

Does anyone else find this offensively stupid?

As you say, comedy is subjective.

"As an aside, some are talking about Blazing Saddles. There will be areas of debate and interpretation.

Carr's case is clear and unequivocal - it was racist and offensive"

Not that simple. Offence is relative and subjective. I'm sure there's stuff that would offend me that wouldn't offend you, and plenty more vise-versa.

I mentioned Blazing Saddles because there's multiple N-word usages and references to the nazis... and I mentioned rape because there are also rape jokes. There are many people out there who think rape jokes should be illegal too.

I'm sure you'll get your wish and Carr will be punished in some way, but my point is we're in risky territory when jokes can land us in legal trouble.

If these laws were applied every time someone took offence then half of all football supporters would be lifed off.

A priest and a nun were talking and the priest said, “Sister, if you hadn’t been a nun what do think you would have been?” The nun thought for a minute and said, “If I hadn’t been a nun I probably would have been a prostitute.” The priest was shocked and said, “Now sister I don’t think I heard you quite right. I’ll ask you again. If you hadn’t been a nun what would you have done with your life?” The nun turned to him and said, “Father if I’ve told you once I’ve told you a thousand times if I hadn’t been a nun I would’ve been a prostitute.” The priest said, “Oh thank me stars. For a minute I thought I heard you say you would have been a Protestant.”

Is that Chinese restaurant still open; you know, the one where the waiters are abusive and offensive to the customers, which is the point, the understanding between all involved. Some people love it. Keep going back for more.

You know where this goes. Easy to join the dots from here.

why did you go and see him.

One of my staff saw him about 15 years ago and we were in a posh restaurant and he told us the joke loudly " I WAS FISH FUCKING A NUN"

I told him that it probably wast the right place

Re: Jimmy Carr

Jimmy Carr's problem is that his whole act lacks the warmth of other comedians who get away with near the knuckle stuff. You can picture Carr away from the stage sat in the corner of a pub making the same jokes about people who walk in.

The last time I saw him live his act was based almost entirely on seeking to offend the audience or test the boundaries of what they saw as acceptable. OK if that's your thing but it got a bit tedious after a while. It just wasn't that clever.

That said, I'm not one for cancelling anything - market forces will/should determine his acceptability, not the censor generation on Twitter.

Re: Jimmy Carr
Jimmy Carr should be trending on every social media thread there is.

Things like " I'm not responding until I hear what Jimmy Carr thinks on the issue", or "What would Jimmy Carr think of this?" should be worked into every SM post.

Let's then see the woke snowflakes deal with that.

Re: Jimmy Carr
I remember one of Jimmy Carr's first routines on television years ok ,one of his jokes was

"Why do seagulls have wings? To beat the pikies to the tip" No one gave a fuck back then.

Just see a fight MC on Facebook saying how disgusting Jimmy Carr's joke is and he should be banned, he MC'd one of my fights against a bloke who came over from Turkey to fight me, he spent the entire fight making unfunny, stereotypical cracks about the Turks all night and wasn't used again.

It's fucking easy to trigger people these days, but everyone has made a shit joke before.
